Well, the old saying that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery must be true, I guess, because this untitled (154K gif) (Copyright 1998, C. Rewerts) piece taken by my friend Chris Rewerts, in his words: "the picture of the frosted tree scene was inspired by your award-winning shot (taken one-handed out my van window 9 FEB 98 while driving north from paris [IL] on route 49 at 55 MPH)." However, I believe "inspiration" is the better word than "imitation", since what is art but an outward expression of an inward feeling inspired by something that touches us in some way. Anyway, I *am* extremely flattered. I also took the liberty of cropping the bottom slightly to lessen the foreground blur - a result of shooting from a moving vehicle.

Here's a B&W, I call Abbott Study #21 (15K jpeg) (Copyright 1988, P.L. Nelson) which I shot with my friend Mike Finn, using his camera, one foggy Saturday morning about 3 AM, after a Friday evening of way too much beer and wine. It was taken at the University of Illinois' Abbott Power Plant. This, too, won a blue ribbon at the local Town and Country Art Show. That qualified it to enter the state art show. To my absolute and utter amazement, it won "Best of Show" competing against other photos and paintings! Awesome!

This, as yet, untitled (240K gif) (Copyright 1993, P.L. Nelson) B&W is also of the U of I's Abbott Power plant, taken on a return visit at not quite so early in the morning, not quite as foggy (drizzly was more like it), and not nearly as tipsy. This is one of my favorites of the whole Abbott series.
