Our ’69 Ford Ranchero has been conspicuosly absent from the southern California streets since Freiburger and I tried to drive it to Alaska in January 2012 during an epic Roadkill video shoot. Here’s a link to the video: http://youtu.be/biVPaZDmoKg
The truth is we rattled the Raunchero engine to death thanks to a missing timing pointer and a whole lot of ignition advance. Like 50 degrees of advance. By the time we returned home from our Utah-Idaho-Colorado-Arizona death trip the 363ci Dart engine had oil puking from every orifice thanks to a near total loss of piston ring tension, a monumental amount of blow-by, and it overheated, too. Today we take the first step towards fixing those problems by delivering the long block to Pfaff Racing Engines in Huntington Beach, California. We hope to have the engine back in Raunchy in a month or so and then hit the road again.
