Oh man. This might be the coolest thing we’ve ever done. We’re at M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan, for the second annual Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge, and we are about to start drag racing on the street. Right on Woodward Ave! The police are here, they said it’s ok!
Somehow they got it back together, or at least we assume they did, since they are here at M1 hanging out with fans and showing off a bunch of Roadkill cars including Stubby Bob, General Mayhem, the MSD van, and DED’s Mad Maxxis Road Runner.
The tech line for racing is amazing. It’s like a who’s who of street-legal fast cars. Tom Bailey is here with Sick Seconds 1, “Doc” Fox, legend of Drag Week has his 1967 Corvette in the mix, and, speaking of Drag Week legends, Bryant Goldstone has two turbos and the Javelin they’re attached to. So that’s at least two 6-second cars planning to run the narrow Woodward lanes. Should be good.
The scene around here is wild. It’s crowded, so if you’re stuck in line outside, sorry, it’s worth it. We have prepped the street outside the track and it’ll take a flip flop off if you walk across it. If you’re missing it, don’t panic, here’s the first of many galleries to make you feel like you’re a part of the action.
